In these short stories, Newman presents a somewhat different Diogenes Club: not theBritish secret service, but aBritish secret service, devoted to investigating the weird and improbable, from the return of Zombie Hitler to an insane murderer who devotes his kills to the goblins Snap, Crackle, and Pop. Well balanced with small nuances, it burns cool and clean at a reasonable rate with a very consistent sweet, mildly creamy, fruity, cigarish, nutty flavor that extends to the lightly lingering, pleasant after taste. No chance of bite or harshness, and barely has a rough note due to the smoothing quality of the toppings. The taste is just past that level, though it doesn’t hit the medium mark.
The strength is a couple of steps past the center of mild to medium. The mildly sweet, slightly bitter coffee and creamy vanilla dressings moderately tone down the tobaccos as they help create a harmonizing effect. The black stoved Virginia offers some stewed dark fruit, earth, wood, bread, and mild sugar. The nutty, earthy, woody, bready brown burley cavendish is a supporting player. I want to refocus the lens by which we view board games from one of constant consumerism and learning rules to one of focus, introspection, and, dare I say it, mastery.The cigar provides some earth, wood, peaty vegetation, mild smoke, tart and tangy citrus, grass, tea, herbs, floralness, light spice as the lead component. It’s my hope that this kind of content will be a refreshing change of pace for you and for me - focused analysis on games as opposed to the constant firehose of new new new buy buy buy. Why should I make their lives any more difficult? People have games and actively want to play them.
It is not hard to spend time playing games if that’s truly your only goal. Demo games, their purchases, playtests, the lot. It makes me sick and I question the character of anyone who willingly inserts themselves into the machine. Tired of shallow, weak, commercialized content. Tired of reviews that recite rules and offer no opinions more developed than “game gud”.
